Techno-Economic Analysis of Automated iPSC Production

Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) open up the unique perspective of manufacturing cell products for drug development and regenerative medicine in tissue-, disease- patient-specific forms. iPSC can be multiplied almost without restriction differentiated into types all organs. The basis clinical use is a high number (approximately 7 × 107 per treatment), which must produced cost-effectively while maintaining reproducible quality. Compared to manual production, automation production offers chance reliable reproducibility addition cost reduction increased throughput. StemCellFactory prototype fully automated iPSC. However, already tested functionality system, it shown that this brings necessary economic advantages. This paper presents advantages throughput better First, biological technological basics are presented. Second, profitability calculation Third, both calculated.
